Sisupalgarh Ancient Fortification
Bhubaneswar Airport Area, Bhubaneswar
About this place
Sisupalgarh is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient urban centres in South Asia — a fortified city of the early historic period (c. 300 BCE–400 CE), roughly contemporary with the Kalinga War. The 1.4 km² site features massive 7-metre earthen ramparts with gateways, moats, and evidence of Mauryan and post-Mauryan occupation.
