Vaital Deul Temple
Old Town, Bhubaneswar
About this place
Vaital Deul (c. 8th century CE) is one of Bhubaneswar's most unusual temples, built in the Khakhara style modelled on a Buddhist chaitya hall with a wagon-vaulted roof. Dedicated to Chamunda, a fierce form of Durga, it features graphic tantric sculptures of skulls, corpses, and the eight-armed Chamunda as a centrepiece.
