Kapilash Temple (also called Mahadev Chandrashekhar Temple) stands at 2,239 ft (682 m) above sea level in the Dhenkanal district. Built in 1246 CE by King Narasimhadeva I of the Eastern Ganga dynasty. Accessible by climbing 1,352 steps or via a motorable road with 11 hairpin bends. The 60-foot temple tower is dedicated to Lord Shiva (Chandrasekhar). Part of the Kapilasa Wildlife Sanctuary.
