Boudh Buddha Vihar is a premier Buddhist archaeological site located in Boudh town. Dating back to the 9th century CE, the site contains the ruins of a massive Buddhist monastery (vihar) built of brick. The central attraction is a giant, 6.9-foot-tall sitting image of Lord Buddha in the Bhumisparsha mudra (earth-touching gesture), carved from local sandstone.
