About this place
Dashaswamedha Ghat is a highly sacred river bank situated on the Baitarani River in Jajpur town. According to Hindu mythology, King Yayati Kesari performed a massive ten-horse sacrifice (Dashaswamedha Yajna) here in the 10th century, bringing Brahmins from Kanauj. The ghat is lined with concrete steps and ancient temples, including shrines dedicated to the Saptamatrika (seven mother goddesses).
