Barchana, Jajpur

About this place

Varaha Temple (also known as Barahanatha Temple) is a major Hindu shrine situated on the opposite bank of the Baitarani River near Dashaswamedha Ghat. Dedicated to Varaha, the third avatar of Lord Vishnu, the temple is one of the few prominent Varaha shrines in India. The temple complex houses double-deities of Varaha (Laxmi-Varaha and Yajna-Varaha) carved from black chlorite stone.
