About this place
Bhimkand is home to one of India's most impressive archaeological treasures—a colossal rock-cut image of Lord Vishnu in sleeping posture. The image is carved directly into the rock surface on the right bank of the Brahmani River. The dimensions are impressive: approximately 42 feet in length and 8 feet in width, making it the second-largest sleeping Vishnu image in India. The image depicts Lord Vishnu in Yoga Nidra (cosmic sleep) posture.
