Debrigarh Wildlife Sanctuary is a critical conservation landscape established in 1985, spanning over 346 square kilometers near Hirakud Dam and Reservoir. The sanctuary has emerged as the most important conservation site for Indian Bison (Gaur) in eastern India. The sanctuary features moist sal forests, bamboo groves, and diverse forest types creating rich wildlife habitat.
