Sapua Dam is a medium irrigation project completed in 2006, located approximately 46 km from Dhenkanal town and 6 km from Hindol. The dam is distinctive for its bridge design that resembles a snake (hence the name 'Sapua' meaning snake). The reservoir is surrounded by dense sal forest ecosystem creating a scenic natural setting. The water body reflects sunlight creating sparkling visual effect in clear weather.
