About this place
The Gandhamardan Hills represent a rugged, forested mountain range situated on the border of Balangir and Bargarh districts. Rising to an elevation of 1,004 meters, this range is historically and culturally famous as the hill Hanuman carried in the Ramayana to find the life-saving Sanjeevani herb. The hills are home to a vast reservoir of rare ayurvedic plants and herbs, making it a critical biodiversity hotspot.
