About this place
Podagad is the former capital of the Nala Dynasty, an early medieval kingdom that ruled over much of southern Odisha and parts of present-day Chhattisgarh approximately between the 5th and 9th centuries CE. The Nala kings were significant regional powers whose territory bridged the Deccan plateau and coastal Odisha cultural zones, and Podagad served as their political and administrative center.
