About this festival
Week-long open-air fair on the Mahanadi sand at Gadagadia Ghat, Cuttack (a 30-min drive from BBSR). Commemorates the ancient Kalinga sea voyages. India's largest open trade fair after Pushkar — 1.5 km of stalls, giant wheels, food, and Odia rangamanch theatre.
Traveller tip
30-min drive from BBSR. The food alley is the famous bit — try the dahi vada-aloo dum, thunka puri and cuttacki rasagolas. Avoid Sat night unless you like crush crowds.
